The Friends of Belper Parks Ltd. were given a total of £123,000 to save this wildlife site from a developer. 71 acres of The Forge are connected to Derbyshire Wildlife Trust sites of Cromford canal and the Erewash wetlands.
There was a “Start Up” meeting on 29th January at The Anvil Club which is within the Church hall, Casson Street, Ironville. The meeting was attended by 120 people.
The purpose of the meeting was to form a community group to support the improvement of The Forge as a nature reserve, and to listen to residents thoughts on the development of The Forge. Anyone interested in The Forge and or conservation is very welcome.
